How Anglers and Paddlers Can Help the Hellbender

The eastern hellbender is an endangered salamander found in the Blue River in southern Indiana. Hellbenders live their entire lives in rivers and streams and are rarely encountered by people. Anglers and paddlers are the two most likely groups of people to come into contact with hellbenders and their activities can disturb or even harm the species. In this video, Purdue biologists speak with local paddlers and anglers to discuss how they can prevent harming the hellbender and damaging its habitat during their recreational activities.
